Abstract

The author reviews the work of Zofia Kossak from the perspective
of insurgent motives. She draws our attention to historical figures,
such as Wojciech Korfanty and Michał Grażyński, the manner of
presentation of Silesian insurgents, battle scenes dynamics and the
natural environment background of the described events. The author
also analyses the significance of the Odra river (called „The mother
Odre”), Saint Anne’s Mountain („The mountain of Christ’s Granny”)
and the motive of insurgents’ graves in the Silesian region.
