Abstract

The Discography of Ignacy Jan Paderewski was created in 2023 as
part of the “Białe plamy – muzyka i taniec” (“White Spots – Music
and Dance”) program announced by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
Ignacy Jan Paderewski had numerous contributions to Polish culture, the country, and Polish society. As a pianist, he gained worldwi-de fame. His compositions were performed during his lifetime by the
most eminent musicians, orchestras, and conductors. Recorded speeches confirm his oratory skills and great patriotism. The discography allows one to trace, among other things, the history of his sound
recordings, the reception of his music from the creation of works to
contemporary times, and his extraordinary speaking abilities. It provides source material for studying his biography and work.
The Discography has two editorial forms: text prepared for printing
in PDF format and a tabulated form in Microsoft Excel. The table is
available at the Association of Polish Musicians website.
The materials for the discography were collected from autopsies and
based on previous printed and electronic publications. It is divided
into four sections: Paderewski’s Recordings, Recordings of Paderewski’s Works, Recordings of Paderewski’s Speeches, and the Varia section. Indexes have been prepared to search for the following elements
in the descriptions of the Discography: personal names (composers,
authors of arrangements, lyricists, performers, recording directors),
names of musical ensembles, and recording companies.
The authors of the Discography aim to publish it in printed form and
to continually expand the electronic version.
