Abstract

The article discusses issues related to studying the wear of records
and phonograph needles using a scanning electron microscope.
It provides essential information about the materials used in producing needles and gramophone records, as well as basic technological challenges associated with them. The paper includes images illustrating the tribological wear (due to friction) of gramophone records and dust particles deposited on their surfaces. Additionally,
a review of Vangelis’ album Antarctica is included as a contribution
to the scientific discussion.
