Abstract

The text discusses the description of recordings, a crucial research
issue addressed in the long-term project: Polish traditional music –
phonographic heritage. Current status, preservation, sharing (Etnofon / Ethnophone). The author emphasises the important role of the
descriptions of a recording, the functioning of digital reproduction
of the recording as an object in electronic databases or digital repositories depends on the metadata used. The article presents the history of the development of the description method, starting with the
model proposed in the 1930s by Prof. Łucjan Kamieński, founder
of the Regional Phonographic Archive.
