Abstract

The article was created on the 115th anniversary of the Silesian Association of Choirs and Orchestras (Śląskie Stowarzyszenie Chórów
i Orkiestr), founded in 1910 as the Association of Silesian Singing
Clubs (Związek Śląskich Kół Śpiewaczych). The association is one of
the oldest organizations of the amateur music movement. The author
presents its history, recalls the names of people distinguished for the
development of musical culture in Silesia and presents the initiatives
undertaken by the Association from its establishment to the present.
